Here's how to get involved, as a lab member or a collaborator.

The caPP Lab at Columbia University is always looking for motivated members who are interested in machine learning, online learning, reinforcement learning, and AI for biodiversity.

If you're interested in research opportunities, please fill out this interest form.

The form asks for a PDF of your resume/CV and transcripts, your interests, and any relevant prior experience.

Your responses will help us learn more about your background and interests so we can match you with relevant opportunities. We review responses regularly. When a new opportunity arises on a project within our lab, we look through respondents to identify potential candidates. We will be in touch if we see a potential fit. Please note that we may not be able to respond to every inquiry individually.

We look forward to learning more about you and what research excites you!

If you're applying to Columbia for a PhD program, please mention Lily Xu as a faculty of interest in your PhD application. Feel free to send an email expressing your interest as well so I can keep an eye out for your application, though I am not always able to respond individually to every inquiry.

Students with a strong background in applied math, optimization, or operations research can apply to Columbia IEOR. Students with a background in computer science can apply to Columbia CS. Students with a background in ecology, economics, or other disciplines can apply to Columbia E3B or the Sustainable Development PhD program at Columbia SIPA, where I may also be able to serve as a co-advisor.

Please note that applications to each department are reviewed by committee of faculty, so I am unable to guarantee any decision.

You do not need to fill out the interest form unless you're interested in getting involved on projects before beginning your PhD.

We're always open to conversations to collaboration! Please send an email to Lily with a bit of background about your organization and work.
